Who we are

Stemming from the inspiration of Professors Alberto Martini and Nicolino Ruperto, Fondazione PRINTO ETS (Paediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisation, formerly PRINTO) is a non-profit research network committed to advancing care and improving outcomes for children with rheumatic diseases.

What we do

Our primary goal is to foster, facilitate and coordinate the development of multi-centre, international clinical trials, outcome standardisation, clinical and basic science studies in children with rheumatic diseases. Moreover, Fondazione PRINTO actively supports the training of young researchers in paediatric rheumatology through different education fellowship programs.

Academic research

Fondazione PRINTO acts as an international academic research service to the paediatric rheumatology community for the implementation of non-profit trials and other studies initiated by investigators (consensus projects, cross-cultural adaptation of questionnaires, training, standardized information for families, etc.).

Collaboration with families

Fondazione PRINTO actively collaborates with families and patient associations to ensure that clinical research directly addresses the needs of children with rheumatic diseases. Developed alongside the Pediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS), PRINTO offers an extensive online platform available in over 50 languages to support families with reliable, up-to-date disease information.

Collaboration with Pharmaceutical Companies

Fondazione PRINTO partners with pharmaceutical companies to develop PIPs, study protocols, and case report forms; identify suitable study sites across its network; provide independent real-time assessment of key trial outcomes. As a result of this collaboration, over 5,000 patients across more than 270 centres in 44 countries have been enrolled.

Our global presence

National Coordinating Centres and individual Clinical Centres collaborate across 95 countries. Together we ensure training, translation of materials and fast access to studies.
